Sensory Exploration — Discovering with Our Five Senses

Memory Verse "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." — Psalm 139:14

Learning Objective

Students will use their five senses to explore different textures and materials, thanking God for the gift of their senses.

Lesson Content

God gave you five amazing senses! You can see with your eyes, hear with your ears, smell with your nose, taste with your tongue, and touch with your hands. What wonderful gifts!

Each sense helps us discover God's world. We can see beautiful colors, hear birds singing, smell flowers, taste yummy food, and feel soft and rough things.

Today we will use our senses to explore! We will touch different textures, listen to sounds, and look at interesting things. God made our bodies so we can enjoy His creation!

Hands-On Activity

Set up a sensory bin with rice, cotton balls, smooth stones, sandpaper, and feathers. Close your eyes and feel each item. Is it soft or rough? Smooth or bumpy? Thank God for the gift of touch! Then listen quietly — what sounds can you hear?

Discussion Questions

  • How many senses did God give us?
  • Which item felt the softest?
  • What is your favorite thing to touch, see, or hear?
