Story Writing — Telling Your Own Story for God's Glory

Memory Verse "My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer." — Psalm 45:1 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn the parts of a story (beginning, middle, end) and write their own short story with a faith-based message.

Lesson Content

Every good story has three parts: a beginning, a middle, and an end. The beginning introduces the characters and setting. The middle tells about a problem or adventure. The end shows how the problem is solved.

Characters are the people or animals in the story. The setting is where and when the story takes place. The problem is the challenge the characters face.

Good writers use describing words to make their stories interesting. Instead of saying 'The dog ran,' you could say 'The fluffy brown dog raced across the green meadow.'

God is the greatest storyteller! The Bible is full of amazing stories that teach us about love, courage, faith, and hope. When we write stories, we can share these same important messages with others.

Hands-On Activity

Write a short story (5-8 sentences) about a child who shows kindness to someone. Include a beginning, middle, and end. Use at least three describing words. Draw a picture to go with your story.
