2nd Grade Bible & Scripture — Old Testament Adventures — From Noah to David
Students will learn how Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land and how God gave them victory at Jericho.
After Moses died, God chose Joshua to be the new leader of Israel. God told Joshua to be strong and courageous because He would be with him wherever he went.
Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan River into the Promised Land — the land God had promised to Abraham long ago. God stopped the river so the people could cross on dry ground, just like the Red Sea!
The first city they came to was Jericho, surrounded by huge, thick walls. God gave Joshua a very unusual battle plan: march around the city once a day for six days, and on the seventh day, march seven times and blow trumpets.
Joshua and the people obeyed God's plan exactly. On the seventh day, after they marched and blew their trumpets and shouted, the mighty walls of Jericho fell down flat! God gave them the victory because they trusted and obeyed Him.
Build walls out of blocks or boxes and act out the story of Jericho. March around them seven times, then shout and watch them fall! Write Joshua 1:9 on a card to keep in your room.
