Jesus Is Alive! — The Resurrection

Memory Verse "He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." — Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn about the resurrection of Jesus and understand that it is the most important event in all of history.

Lesson Content

The most important story in the whole Bible is that Jesus rose from the dead! After Jesus died on the cross for our sins, His friends laid His body in a tomb and rolled a big stone in front of it.

Three days later, some women went to the tomb early in the morning. An angel appeared and said, 'Do not be afraid! Jesus is not here — He has risen!' The tomb was empty!

Jesus appeared to His disciples and many others. He was alive! Because Jesus rose from the dead, we know that He is truly the Son of God and that He has power over death. Everyone who believes in Jesus can have eternal life.

Hands-On Activity

Draw the empty tomb with the stone rolled away and the angel. Write the memory verse next to your picture. Then write or tell someone why Easter is so important.
