Harriet Tubman — Following God's Call to Help Others

Memory Verse "Do not fear, for I am with you." — Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn about Harriet Tubman and how her faith in God gave her courage to help others find freedom.

Lesson Content

Harriet Tubman was a very brave woman who lived a long time ago. She was born into slavery, which means she was not free. That was very wrong and very sad.

Harriet trusted God and prayed for help. She escaped to freedom and then went back many times to help other people escape too. She was very courageous!

Harriet said that God told her which way to go. She followed the North Star at night and trusted God to keep her safe.

Harriet Tubman teaches us that God wants all people to be free and that He gives us courage when we trust in Him.
