Jesus Calls His Disciples — Follow Me!

Memory Verse "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." — Matthew 4:19 (NIV)

Learning Objective

Students will learn how Jesus chose 12 special helpers called disciples and what it means to follow Jesus.

Lesson Content

When Jesus grew up and began His work, He chose 12 special helpers called disciples. They traveled with Him, learned from Him, and helped Him share God's love.

One day, Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee and saw two fishermen named Peter and Andrew. He said, 'Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people!' They left their nets and followed Him right away.

Jesus also called James, John, Matthew, and others. They were not rich or famous — they were ordinary people. Jesus chose them because He loved them. Jesus calls us to follow Him too!

Hands-On Activity

Learn the names of the 12 disciples: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon, and Judas. Draw a picture of Jesus calling the fishermen.
